Rounds: Hosting and the round page

This page shows how you start a test round and what the round page holds. Sessions, testers and feedback have their own pages.

The Hosting home

Hosting (the Hosting | Testing switch in the top bar) shows your games, each with its rounds: the version, the status (Draft, Recruiting, Running, Closed), the accepted testers out of the number wanted, and the next session. A confidential round carries a Confidential tag.

On a game’s row the New round of button starts the wizard. If you have no round yet, an empty state explains the flow (write a call, share it, read the feedback) and points to the Builder if you have no game yet.

A round you left half done shows Continue the draft.

New test round

The New test round wizard has five steps and saves a draft as you work, so you can stop any time.

  1. Game and version. Pick the game and the release from the Builder you want to test, and name the round. The newest release is picked at first.
  2. Call text. You write it per language: a title, a short pitch (two or three sentences a stranger will read), the state of the game, and what you want to learn. A language you do not write is tagged Not offered; testers then see another language.
  3. Who can come. Who can see the call (Only invited or Anyone with the link), approval (Automatic or Approve each tester), how many testers you want, and the NDA (Off, Standard GreenCloth NDA or My own text). The defaults are only invited and automatic approval.
  4. Feedback form. The six core questions (fun, rule clarity, length, play again, what worked, what to change) and the question for the designer can each be switched off. At least one question stays on, and you can add up to three of your own (text, scale or yes or no).
  5. Review. It sums up what you set. Start recruiting takes the round out of the draft.

To start recruiting you need the call written in at least one language.

Overview

The round page (tabs Overview, Call, Sessions, Testers, Feedback) opens on Overview:

  • Progress: testers out of the number wanted, sessions held and still to come, feedback received.
  • Next session: named by its note.
  • Share the call: the call link with a Copy button, a real QR code beside it with Download QR, for a poster or the first slide of a meeting. On an invited round this is the personal invite link.
  • Round settings: who can come, approval, testers wanted, NDA, questions.
  • Stop recruiting: the call then says the round is full; sessions and testers stay.
  • Close round: after a confirmation the round is closed for good and cannot be reopened.

Editing the call

The Call tab shows one language at a time, as testers see it on a phone. Edit switches to editing: changes save as you type (the Saved note tells you). A recruiting round keeps the text in at least one language.
